Apologies for anther athletics posting, but I am once again putting my body and mind through the mill again in aid of three worthy charities; Children with Cancer, RNLI and the Kent Association for the Blind.
Last year I ran the Brighton Marathon for the Kent Association for the Blind and raised £600 which I was truly chuffed about for the achievement of running that distance and the amount of money I raised.
Since then, several organisations contacted me after that and asked whether I would run for them, but how do you top a marathon? Well through fate and a bit of fortune, I am now taking part in three challenging events over the next 8 months.
It all started at the end of 2011. I had been out of training for 3 months with a sports injury and unfortunately during that time I put on a lot of weight...in fact I went up to 17 stone. But I decided to turn a negative into several positives and decided to stay fit and get over my fear of the water by taking swimming lessons. Together with the news that I had received a place at the London Marathon through my running club (Thanet Roadrunners), I decided to go ahead and do the following three events
- London Marathon: 22/04/12
- 24 Hour Challenge: 19/05/12 -20/05/12 (I want to run at least 50 miles in this event, but hope to do more)
- London Triathlon : 22/09/12 (this is the one that scares me the most, being a newbie to swimming.)
If you can see it in your way to support me with a donation to these worthy causes, I would be most grateful.
